birdcage holes

What are the second set of holes in front of the normal top holes on my birdcage for? I've never used them and they are on most birdcages.

You use it for a shorter upper bar and it helps the birdcage index faster.

The motion ratio change is much larger and quicker. You also change indexing with a varied drive angle.

The 4 bar cars started out with 2 or 3 holes on the top and bottom brackets. The old tube type bird cages were just one hole. Car builders decided to put 10,000 holes everywhere so you could really put yourself out in left field. Lol

As with any adjustment, you can dial yourself in or dial yourself out. Really depends on whether you're guessing when making changes or doing it with an expected outcome.

Its funny you say that! Last year at Volusia Speedweeks, Owens broke a rearend and the crew brought out a complete spare to replace it. The birdcages only had 1 hole top and bottom and looked very generic. I started asking a few questions and was told Jimmy builds his own birdcages. that ,of course, was a Bloomer car and Im not sure about his Club cars.

Did some garage testing with the bars and found a few interesting angle changes and oversteer amounts on the left rear. One was opposite of what I was expecting. Not sure when I would need this setup so for now I'll just let someone else experiment with it.

I've seen more negative results than positive ones from moving bars. I do agree that when the right move is made it makes a car look like it has 50 more hp then another. But I still say more is not always better.
