I always felt like 2300s made more power with older oval port heads. I also had an SVO turbo intake, from a 1984 1/2 mustang, with a 1 3/4" spacer fused to it, looked like a factory hi rise. It was on the 1st ministock I ever bought and the only intake I ever used. I baffled many track tech guys with that intake but it WAS an OEM ford part. My $600 motors always kept right up with the $6000 ones and I always thought that intake was a big reason why.
I prefer the older oval port head. no proof to back it up but they seem to handle being overheated better than the d-port. of course we never overheat our engines right.
