    Default Richmond Raceway’s "‘Butterball” Memorial-Southern Nat's Bonus Series July 18th

    Richmond Raceway’s Paul ‘Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial for the Southern Nationals Bonus Series will be July 18th

    BRASSTOWN, NC (July 11, 2015)—The 28th edition of the Sunoco Race Fuels-sponsored Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Ky. will be contested on Saturday Night July 18th paying $10,028-to-win and $500-to-start for the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Late Models presented by Collins Signs.

    This will mark the first of two Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned events at the Yantz Family-promoted 3/10th’s mile Richmond Raceway for the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty-sponsored Late Model division. The series will be back for the Colonel Classic on September 5th featuring the third point event of the Revelution Race Cars Iron-Man Speed Week presented by Arizona Sport Shirts.

    Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, Ind. has won the prestigious Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event nine times at the 49-year-old track located in Madison County, Kentucky. Last year’s winner was Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark. He’s also the track record holder and set a blistering 14.040 second lap during last year’s event.

    Austin Smith of Cedartown, Ga. leads the Southern Nationals Bonus Series point standings by just two markers over David Payne of Murphy, N.C. Smith is the most recent series winner as he finally reached victory lane on July 9th at Tri-County (NC) Race Track after starting on the tail and charging to the front to take the $3,000 payday.

    The July 18th event will feature a complete show of practice, FK Rod End’s Qualifying, Heat Races, Last Chance Races and the 59-lap $10,028-to-win event. The tire rule for the Super Late Models will be: Hoosier 1300/1350/1600/LM20/LM40 & American Racer 44/48/56. The series entry fee will be $100 for the event and transponders (available at the track for $10.00) will be mandatory for the event. In case of inclement weather, the event will be run on Saturday August 15th.

    In addition to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Late Models, the Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $1,000-to-win, the KDRA-sanctioned Super Stocks will compete for $800-to-win and the Mini-Cup Cyclones will also be on the racing card gunning for $150-to-win. On Friday Night July 17th, the track will feature an open practice session (from 6:00 until 10:00 pm) for all divisions and an after practice cookout will greet racers and fans. Pit admission for the practice is $15.00 and grandstand admission is free.

    On Saturday July 18th the pit gates will open at 2:00 pm and the grandstand gates will open at 3:00 pm. The cut off for registration is 6:00 pm sharp and the driver’s meeting will be at 6:00 pm while the hot laps will roll out at 6:30 pm. All times Eastern. Adult general admission is $25.00 and Adult Pit Passes are $40.00.

    Also as part of the “Butterball”, there will be the “Butterball” Dash that will consist of the Super Late Model feature winners at Richmond Raceway in 2015 that are not in the show via a heat or b-main event, plus the top ten in Super Late Model track points after the July 11 “Butterball” Tune-Up event, with the dash winner earning a starting spot in the “Butterball” and the winner of the “Butterball” Tune-Up at the track on July 11 will also get a starting spot in the “Butterball”. Drivers currently locked into the “Butterball” Dash include Victor Lee of Danville, KY, Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN, Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY, and Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY.

    Expected from the hot-bed of Central Kentucky Late Model drivers to compete in the annual Memorial event include: Victor Lee of Danville, Aaron Hatton of Mt. Sterling, Jason Barrett of Waco, Dustin Linville of Lancaster, Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Brad Neat of Dunnville, Chris Ruble of Waco, Derek Fisher of Olympia, Dennis Barton of Corbin and J.L. Muse of Monticello plus many more regional stand-outs. Former winner this year at Richmond Raceway is Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN and is expected for this mega-event.

    Expected to be in attendance from the Southern Nationals Bonus Series, include: David Payne of Murphy, NC; Austin Smith of Cedartown, GA; Kenny Collins of Colbert, GA; Jamie Oliver of Murphy, NC; Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Bo Eaton of Blue Ridge, GA; Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN, Craig Vosbergen of Perth, Western Australia; Mark Dotson of Cameron, MO; Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA; Jason Croft of Woodstock, GA and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC.

    At each Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2015, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus. At Richmond, a special $200 bonus for the highest finishing Crate (602 or 604) engine in the main event.
