CARTERSVILLE, GA – Lead changes are what America’s First Factory Backed and Factory built super late model series, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series has become well-known for over the past few weeks. More of the same is expected this Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and on Saturday night at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.

In the first four Chevy Super Series of the 2015 season, there have been 16 lead changes among ten different drivers. In addition to the lead changes, fans are being treated to three and four-wide battles for those lead changes.

What makes it all happen? It’s a combination of the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Racing Engine that powers the super dirt late models in the Chevy Super Series that is based off the production LS3 Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet SS and is available to the public at Chevrolet dealership worldwide, and the talent of the drivers behind the wheel of those race cars.

So far this season, the defending Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point leader Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, Ryan King of Anniston, AL, Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, Terry Smith of Oxford, AL, Mario Gresham of Rome, GA, Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL, Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS, Jason Cliburn of Star, MS and Johnny Stokes of Columbus, GA have all led laps in the first four Chevy Super Series races.

No race winners have come from the front row of any of the first four Chevy Super Series races. Johnson won the season opener at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN from the 23rd starting spot. Smith won at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL from the third starting position. Ellis took the win at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS from the fourth starting spot, and Cliburn won at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS from the 11th starting position.

All four of those drivers knew what to expect from the Chevy Super Series competition to get where they were going, and that’s two, three and four-wide racing. Again this weekend, the Chevy Super Series is coming to two great tracks with cars powered by a great engine that doesn’t overpower the racing surface, and a great talent pool of drivers that know how to put on a show for the fans.

Penton Raceway will be the first stop on Friday night with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race that was rescheduled from a June 12 rainout when 28 cars were signed in. The Chevy Super Series will make its first-ever visit to Senoia Raceway on Saturday night with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race. You know it’s a big race at Senoia Raceway when Senoia, GA’s Favorite Son is there to race.

“Cat Daddy” Clint Smith will be competing with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series this Saturday night at Senoia Raceway. Smith is the 1993 Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Late Model Series National Champion and is still one of the top super dirt late model racers in the country. He will be taking on the best the Chevy Super Series has to offer.

Tim Busha of Boaz, AL is the new Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point leader coming into the weekend, and he holds a six-point over Johnson. Martin and Crowder are tied for third in the points chase, ten points behind Johnson, and Gresham is fifth, four points behind Martin and Crowder. Just 20 points separate the Top 5 in the Chevy Super Series point standings.

King and Williams are tied for the sixth spot in the Chevy Super Series standings, and Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is eighth. Jadon Frame of Winchester, TN is ninth and Tony Thompson of Ohatchee, AL rounds out the Top 10 in the points chase.

Other top competitors expected for this weekend’s Chevy Super Series races include Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, Trevor Thompson of Dallas, GA, Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA, Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN, Josh Johnson of Winchester, TN, Frank Wilson of Milton, FL, Lavon Sparks of Phenix City, AL, Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA, David Brannon of Elora, TN, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, and Colby Kilgore of Dalton, GA.

Local favorites expected this weekend include Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL, Oliver Gentry of Newnan, GA, Cord Dodgen of LaFayette, AL, Ricky Culpepper of Hamilton, GA, and Taylor Mitcham of LaFayette, AL.

Race fans are always encouraged to arrive early to a Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series event long before the two and three-wide action takes place on the track. The Chevy Fan Zone will have the drivers meeting and greeting the race fans with their race cars on display in the grandstand area handing out autographed hero cards and coloring books for the kids.
