Rothbury, Michigan (Friday, July 31st, 2015): The Winston Speedway welcomed in the members of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club to enjoy the full racing program. The show featured racing action from the Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Michigan Dirt Modifieds, Street Stocks, Bombers, Four-Cylinder Warriors, and Young Guns. This was all part of fast 3/8ths (0.375) mile high banked dirt oval’s show where all of the track championship points battles continued. The 12-lap main event for the Young Guns division started the evening’s feature events. 13-year old Deron Midkiff and 14-year old Nathan Magner started on the front row. However Ronnie VanNatter was the leader after the opening circuit. That turned out to be all he would need to accomplish as he would lead every lap of the race and pick up the victory. This was VanNatter’s seventh feature win of the year in his #36. 15-year old Gabe Flores finished second. Midkiff, 15-year old Heidi Barnhard, and Magner completed the final running order. The heat race was also won by VanNatter. Robbie Sternberg and Rick Huisken led out the 20-lap A-Main for the Street Stocks. Sternberg jumped out with the early advantage with the rest of the field fighting for position behind him. Not long after, on lap 4 Derek Poland would eventually make the pass for the lead. Sternberg would actually rally to challenge Poland for the lead yet again. There would be no stopping Poland, however as he would go on to get the win. This was the seventh win of the season for the 59-year old Muskegon, Michigan native behind the wheel of his Joe’s Auto Parts #13. Sternberg was forced to settle for second. Paul Namey, Huisken, and Mark Farber rounded out the top five. Farber was the winner of the lone heat race. The 15-lap Bombers feature event rolled out next with Mike Epplett and Nate Triick made up the front row. Epplett would fire away with the race lead in the early stages. However on lap 8 he would see the defending track champion Dan Wilson Jr. approach and make the pass for the lead. Wilson would go on from there straight to victory lane. The 36-year old from Muskegon, Michigan picked up his seventh win of the year, behind the wheel of his A&A Manufacturing #57. Epplett took second. Triick, Robb Sternberg, and 15-year old Morgan Smith capped off the top five. The preliminary heat races were won by 12-year Evan Shotko and Wilson.The UMP DIRTcar Modifieds were out next with the running of their 25-lap feature. Aaron Morey and Dave Schmidt led the field down to the green flag. Morey took the early advantage. That would actually turn out to be all Morey would need to do as he would lead the entire race from green to checkered. Morey, the native of West Olive, Michigan earned his third win of the season. The three time UMP DIRTcar Modified Michigan State champion and defending track champion David Mielke finished second. Jacob Poel, Greg Smith, and Schmidt completed the top five. Morey and Mielke won the heats. Kevin Nelson Jr. and Rob Taylor led the Late Model feature down to the green flag of their 25-lap main event. After the first circuit it was Nelson leading the field. He would remain there until lap 3 where he would be passed by Taylor who took over the race lead. Taylor would manage to hold the lead despite heavy pressure from Kyle Borgman down the stretch. The 47-year old, Taylor who calls Muskegon, Michigan home picked up his first win of the year in the Taylor racing #44. Borgman finished second. Defending track champion Rich Neiser, Nelson, and Larry Passenier finished off the top five. Bill Bray and Neiser won the heat races. The Michigan Dirt Modifieds were led out for a 15-lap feature by the front row of Ted Cooper and Renton Joiling. Once the green flag waved, Joe Carmean flew to the front of the field and led the opening lap. However on lap 2 Cooper would take over the lead. He would maintain control until lap 11 when Carmean rallied to the lead yet again. Although Cooper would charge right back to led on the very next lap. When the dust settled however, it was Mike Roe getting the victory after passing for the lead on lap 14. This was Roe’s first win of the year in #66. Cooper had to settle for second. Josh Grabe, Joiling, and Carmean would make up the top five. Cooper won the heat race. Finally it was Dave Redmon who scored the win in the 15-lap feature event for the Four-Cylinder Warriors. Redmon started third and after the start he weaved his way right to the front of the field and he would sail way ahead of the other competitors. Gary Larabee would have a surge of momentum late, but time would run out as Redmon won the battle to the finish line. The 45-year old from Montague, Michigan picked up his third win of the year in the BSA Tech #04. Larabee took second. Josh Pulsipher, Terry Woodard, and Buck Spencer rounded out the top five. Ryan Hamm and Pulsipher scored the heat wins. This Friday August 7th the Winston Speedway will feature another full racing programing running all seven local divisions. The show will be headlined by a Michigan Dirt Modified Special presented by Allstar Performance. They will be joined by Late Models, UMP DIRTcar Modifieds, Street Stocks, Bombers, Four-Cylinder Warriors, and Young Guns.Pits Open at 5:30pm, Grandstands open at 6:00pm, Hot Laps start at 6:30pm, and the green flag is set to fly at 7:30pm.
