CARTERSVILLE, GA – The top six drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings have reached the 14 week in their respective seasons and will head for Week 20 competition trying to net points. There are seven races on the Week 20 schedule of events of the 27-week season in five different states.

Week 20 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action will begin on Friday night with races at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX and at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Saturday night races are scheduled for Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Saturday night co-sanctioned Week20 events will be held at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, LA for a race co-sanctioned by the Southern Crate Late Model Series and Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, KS for a race co-sanctioned by the NCRA.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 694 points, as he tries to close in on a perfect 14 week point total of 700. Arnold will be trying to net on a 46. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second with 661 points and he will be trying to net on a 42.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is third in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series standings with 653 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is fourth with 651 points and he will be trying to net on a 25. Greg Fore of Greenville, MS is fifth with 634 points and he will be trying to net on a 41.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is sixth with 633 points and will be trying to net on a 41. Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series standings with 631 points. The 13-year-old Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point leader has one more week to earn full points.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is eighth in the standings with 616 points and still has one more week to earn full points, Southern Crate Late Model Series point leader Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 574 points and two more weeks to earn full points.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 568 points and one more week to earn full points. Three drivers to watch outside the Top 10 of the point standings in the coming weeks are Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL, three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS, and Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL.

They are among the Top 10 drivers with the highest Weekly Point Average, or WPA, Arnold has the highest WPA at 49.57 out of a possible 50, and Skinner has the second highest WPA at 48.54. Starnes has the third highest WPA at 47.83 and the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings is Daspit at 47.38.

Cummings is 17th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 473 points, and has the fifth highest WPA at 47.30 and four more weeks to earn full points. Lee has the sixth highest WPA at 47.21 and Joiner has the seventh highest WPA at 46.54. Palasini has the eighth highest WPA at 46.50.

Daffron, who is also a 17-year-old Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series candidate among NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger, is 11th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 556 points and the ninth highest WPA at 46.33 with two more weeks to earn full points. Keeton is 14th in the standings with 503 points and has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 in the points chase at 45.73 and three more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
