Riley Hickman Scores Win in Inaugural NeSmith Event at KLMS

Cleveland, Tennessee (08/31/15) – Riley Hickman made history on Friday evening by piloting his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 Austin Trucking/CVR Late Model to the $2,500 victory in the inaugural NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series event at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.

On Friday night Riley Hickman made the trip to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway (Calvert City, Kentucky), pulling double duty in both his Crate and Super Late Models. Drawing a field of twenty-seven entries for the Southern All Stars Series-sanctioned Super Late Model event, Hickman recorded the fastest time in qualifying to lock into the pole position for the feature. Battling for a $4,000 payday, Riley recorded a 3rd place finish behind race winner, Billy Moyer Jr., and Ashley Newman with Brandon Kinzer and Dylan Ames rounding out the top five.

On the same night twenty-eight Crate Late Models signed in for the $2,500-to-win, NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series event. Recording the fastest time again, Riley earned the pole position for the feature. Charging to the lead on lap 12, and then holding off Matt Henderson, Riley scored his thirteenth win on the season with Henderson, Ryan King, John Owenby, and Jake Teague trailing him to the finish line.

Saturday night brought twenty-four Super Late Models to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway for the $5,000-to-win, Southern All Stars feature event. Earning a 2nd row starting spot, Riley Hickman held his 4th place starting spot for the 50-lap A-Main, registering a 4th place finish behind Billy Moyer Jr., Dane Dacus, and Dylan Ames with Ashley Newman coming in 5th.

Looking to capture the $2,500 payday plus a bonus $1,000 for a weekend sweep, Riley was one of 29 Crate Late Models signed in for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series-sanctioned event. Battling with John Owenby for the 50-lap affair, Hickman was surpassed with three laps to go retiring to a runner-up spot behind Owenby with Ashley Newman, Ronnie Johnson, and Matt Henderson completing the top five.

“It was a great weekend in both cars, and it was a lot of fun to race at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway,” noted Hickman. “I want to thank my crew, my sponsors, and all of my fans for their great support.”
