    Default 604 block

In need of a block. Rings came apart and scared the block up so anything that is done to it will make it illegal. Can you buy the bare block? Everything in motor is fine other than pistons. thanks

    Did this with a 602-
You can use a stock production GM block 96ish and up 10243880, it's all the same - except the fuel pump area is not finished machined on the regular production versions. But, that jig is $650 from enginequest for the cheap one, and the BHJ fixture is over a grand. No machine shops in my area can do it. Having made this mistake, that block SRXSRULE posted is hands down the best way to go. Saving a nickel here will cost a buck.

"most" series permit 1 sleeve per side-----at an average industry cost of $120 per sleeve (installed) that may help your situation

honing the cylinders to 4.008 is also permitted by the GM rule book ---However that is NOT recommended for longevity or performance---but going .005 to .006 on a couple of holes to save a block is normal
