    Default Hornet World Championships part of Fireman's Ball Night Sept 19 at Macon Speedway

    Saturday September 19 Hornet World Championship, Sportsman Topless 40, Fireman's Ball, CEFCU Kid's Club, Great Go Kart Giveaway Lots of exciting things are happening this Saturday night at Macon Speedway. There will be lots of fun both on and off the race track. The Sportsman host what is maybe their 2nd biggest race of the entire season outside of the Illinois Sportsman Nationals on the Springfield Mile. The 40 lapper will feature the UMP Sportsman going TOPLESS, letting the fans see how the drivers go about wheeling these exciting race cars. The Hornets also have an absolutely huge event on tap that they always circle as one of the biggest of their season, the Hornet World Championships. Some of the area's best will come in to take on the weekend warriors of Macon who defend their home turf very well. In addition to those HUGE events, there will be a FULL racing program! The Great Go-Kart Giveaway, CEFCU Kids Club, plus activities with the Fireman's Ball all make up exciting off track activities going on.     Fireman’s Ball & CEFCU Kids Club Great Go Kart Giveaway Saturday Night Macon Speedway will pay tribute to any and all firemen with the Annual Fireman’s Ball. Scheduled earlier in the year and lost due to rain in the area the Fireman’s Ball reschedule date is now upon us. Area fire fighters and their families will be honored with a deeply discounted admission ticket of just $5 for the evenings racing festivities. All fire fighters need to do is show proper identification or wear something to show your affiliation with an area fire department. The tickets dated for July 11 will also be honored. The Fireman’s Ball will be in conjunction with the Hornet World Championship, Sportsman Topless 40, UMP Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Beach House Micros on the historic dirt oval General admission gates are set to open at 5pm, hotlaps at 6pm with racing scheduled to start at 7pm. It’s fun for the whole family with the CEFCU Kid’s Club as Macon Speedway will also be giving away two go karts to two lucky kids in attendance Saturday Night September 19th.     Hornet World Championship & Topless Sportsman Coming To Macon The 2015 Hornet World Championship is headed our way and it’s a big one for the four cylinder power plants. Saturday Night, September 19th will feature an increased purse as well a large three-tier championship trophy for the prestigious event. $300 is on the line to the one who can out last the rest and the competition is set to be tough. Currently, Decatur, IL driver, John Bright, Jr. leads the UMP Hornet standings at Macon with 782 points. Second in line is Bloomington, IL driver Thad Gee. Adam Webb, who is coming off of a win on Saturday night, Steven Stine, and Matthew Reed, complete the top five in standings. Cook Crawford, of Lincoln, IL, is just out of the top five in standings. Crawford claimed this year's championship at Lincoln Speedway. Pit gates are set to open at 4pm, general admission gates at 5pm, hotlaps at 6pm with racing scheduled to start at 7pm. The Hornet World Championship is bound to see a who’s-who in the Hornet world, as everyone is ready for the big one. Not only do the Hornets have some prestige for the September 19th weekend, the Sportsman will also be ready for the rescheduled Topless 40. $600 will be on the line for the division as they make up the event that had been won by rain earlier in the year. UMP Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Beach House Micros will also be racing.
