I dont know gold, but i can tell one thing that victory circle/longhhor not hit on much when comes to crown jewls. I think you just solved the mystery! His crew member mounted the wrong piece of "lead". The white residue leaking out of that particular piece of 2x4x11 steel tubing, should have been a clue!
