ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Relaunches Battle of the Bluegrass in Kentucky for 2016

CARNESVILLE, Georgia (September 10, 2015) - Many people may have thought that the name was gone forever. But the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series which is based in Georgia is bringing the Battle of the Bluegrass back to life under their banner in 2016. “Now the great fans and drivers fans of Kentucky will once again have their own regional Super Late Model series that will be called the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Battle of the Bluegrass. I think the name still carries a lot of weight with it.” said Series Owner Stan Lester. “We had our trademark attorney check into it with the State of Kentucky and the name was available so we have grabbed it up and now we are off to the races with building that brand.” Lester added.

The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series has sanctioned one of the most prestigious Super Late Model events in the state of Kentucky the last 2 years, Ponderosa Speedway’s John Bradshaw Memorial. And for 2 years the events have played out in front of a packed house. Some of the toughest competitors in the nation have entered the fight for the $15,000 to win top prize. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series has become the fan favorite in the Southeast region with racing in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

In 2013 OVDTR.com named an ULTIMATE event at West Virginia’s I-77 Raceway Park as their number one race of 2013. “That was a heck of a race.” said Kelley Carlton ULTIMATE Series Director. “Casey Roberts and Eddie Carrier, Jr. raced side by side and traded the lead over and over with Casey getting the win in the end. That is just one example of the great racing that we have been having. The crowds have been really good this year and we are having a record year for the series in many aspects. We have seen and heard of the need in Kentucky. So this is a great move for the series and for racing in Kentucky.”

“We expect to schedule 12 to 15 races in this first season.” added Lester.” The minimum purses will be $3000 to win and $400 to start. We will also have several “National Events” including the $10,000 to win USA 100 and the $25,000 to win King of the Commonwealth events at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamiaca, Virginia plus the $15,000 to win at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky. We built our purses so that tracks could afford them while making sure that the racer was going to be to afford to travel a little for them. We are currently building a schedule and negotiating with several tracks. We hope to release that schedule around January of 2016.”

The ULTIMATE Battle of the Bluegrass will feature purse structures for $3000 to win; $4000 to win; $5000 to win; $7500 to win and $10,000 to win along with that of the $15,000 and $20,000 to win events already scheduled. “We know not every team that will compete on the Battle of the Bluegrass Series can make it over for the $10,000 to win and $20,000 to win Virginia Motor Speedway events but there will be a structure in place where teams that choose to, can use those to replace a worse finish in their points chase. So it could be a huge benefit them to make those trips.” said Lester.

A point fund is currently being developed for the new ULTIMATE Super Late Model Battle of the Bluegrass Series which will be announced later. “I don’t look for it to be a huge point fund to begin with. We need to see how things go. But we plan to grow it just as we did with the current series. We started with a $15,000 to win points championship and now it has grown to $20,000 to win for 2015. We look for the Kentucky region to grow at somewhat the same pace.” concluded Lester.

Additional information will be released in the weeks and months ahead as details are finalized.
