Jeep Van Wormer Eyes Waynesfield After Solid World 100 Weekend

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Iron Motorsports made the yearly September pilgrimage to the hallowed 1/2-mile oval of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 10-12 for the 45th edition of the 'World 100.' The three-day crown jewel spectacular started with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs, each of which paid $5,000 to the winner. On Thursday night, Jeep Van Wormer won his heat race, led the first seven circuits of the main event, and eventually placed third in the 25-lapper behind only victor Brandon Sheppard and runner-up Jimmy Owens. In Friday's show at Eldora, which was pushed back to Saturday afternoon due to persistent rain showers, Jeep ran second in his heat race prior to starting and finishing seventh in the 25-lap main event.

When the stakes were raised on Saturday evening, Jeep and the rest of the 106 entrants had their focus set on the 45th Annual 'World 100,' which boasted a whopping $48,000 top prize. Jeep finished fourth in his loaded heat race, but earned the second transfer spot through his B-Main behind only consolation race winner Don O'Neal. After starting the 100-lap grind from the outside of the twelfth row, the Pinconning, Michigan ace picked up a few positions during the 'World 100' and was eventually paid for a twenty-first place effort. Complete results from the extended weekend in the Buckeye State can be viewed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

The #55 team will jump right back into dirt-slinging action this Saturday night, September 19 at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio. The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will preside over the ‘Fall Round Up’ at Waynesfield and a $2,000 winner’s check will be on the line. In addition, the victor of the ‘Fall Round Up’ on Saturday will receive a guaranteed starting spot in next month’s $100,000 to win ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park.
