PATH VALLEY MOVES RUSH LATE MODEL EXPANSION TO CENTRAL PA WITH SIGNING AS A SWEENEY WEEKLY SERIES MEMBER TRACK IN 2016

September 17, 2015 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Spring Run, PA)...After a highly successful RUSH Late Model debut with a Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series event on August 14, Path Valley Speedway Park has stepped up early to announce its confirmation of joining as a Sweeney RUSH Weekly Series track in 2016! Path Valley is expected to feature the Sweeney RUSH Late Models bi-weekly on Friday nights in 2016.

The Spring Run, Pa. facility was one of 23 speedways in 2015 to host a RUSH Late Model-sanctioned event now becomes the 14th weekly member track. Path Valley has traditionally featured Steel-Block Late Models as its headlining division on Friday nights at the 1/4-mile high-banked oval located minutes off the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Bedford and Harrisburg.

RUSH member racers will be able to participate at Path Valley in 2016 and be eligible for all of the programs including the Sweeney Weekly Series Championship, the Pace Performance “Summer Chase”, along with the Bilstein Bandits and the “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers. Another exciting program is in the works for member weekly speedways for 2016. While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership will again include a $100,000 excess participant accident policy which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.

The inaugural RUSH event last month was an exciting one with Virginia teen Logan Roberson picking up the $600 win over an impressive field of 16 cars from four different states (Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland) at the first ever Crate Late Model race at Path Valley and the furthest east a Crate Late Model race has been held in Pennsylvania.

“This show was an overwhelming success,” said Path Valley announcer and promoter, Mike Donald. “We were looking for a good car count and a great show in our first attempt at RUSH Crate racing and we got just that. The drivers and fans liked it, and it set up things for more RUSH Crate races at Path next season.”

"We are looking forward to working with RUSH next season and having Crate Late Models as a regular fixture at the Speedway," stated Path Valley Co-Owner John Winsett. "This is a definite positive for all involved."

"We were very excited Path Valley gave Crate Late Models a shot at Path Valley under our sanctioning," expressed Emig. "We've talked to Path Valley for many years hoping for this opportunity. We have to thank Mike Donald, who we've worked with in years past at Roaring Knob, for making this happen. It's no secret steel blocks are very popular and still successful in the central and eastern part of Pennsylvania, but crate racers had been hoping for many years for the opportunity to have shows in this area."

Not only does Path Valley expand RUSH Crate Late Model racing east, but gives many racers another venue to race on the weekends. Currently Roaring Knob Motorsports Park racers do not have a nearby option for a second night of racing plus it also will give Winchester Speedway racers that do not compete at Potomac Speedway’s bi-weekly events another option.

Path Valley Speedway Park is owned by John Wisnett and Jack Flowers. The first race at Path Valley was held in June 1987. Wisnett and Flowers purchased the track in 2000. Path Valley races on Friday and Saturday nights featuring a wide variety of stock car and sprint car divisions. Path Valley recently held a national USAC Midget Car event and has hosted major Sprint Car events promoted by Fred Rahmer such as Pennsylvania Speedweek and more.
