(Wilson, NC) Officials from the Southeast Dirt Modified Series are excited to announce an all-new Southeast touring series for dirt modified teams in 2016. The announcement will see the Southeast Dirt Modified Series unleash “The Perfect Storm” powered by AMRA in the Southeast region as part of a 14-15 race schedule that tentatively will include the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee and Southern West Virginia.

The tour is owned and operated by Steve Summerlin and Tyler Skinner, both from Wilson, North Carolina. Summerlin displays a wide array of experience in the motorsports industry adding the task of race director and race day manager for the series to his resume. Co-owner Tyler Skinner brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the racing industry. He has expertise in the day to day racing operations, scoring, directing, event planning and a strong business management background. The duo pride themselves on running high quality and efficient shows. The tour will boast a full staff to make sure each event operates in an efficient manner. Joining Summerlin and Skinner will be Jolynn Athorp, Kay Dezalia, and Greg Skinner. Marty Dezalia and Henry Webb will share technical inspection duties in 2016. Race teams will see an added focus in the technical inspection department with additional focus being placed on post race tech. The Southeast Dirt Modified Series has tabbed veteran announcer Tyler Williams to handle announcing and PR duties. Tyler’s resume speaks for itself as we look forward to the energy he will bring to the series.

The SEDMS will operate under the AMRA banner. The Southeast Dirt Modified Series point’s championship will operate separate from the weekly AMRA points.” Flying under the AMRA sanction will allow our touring drivers to compete at weekly AMRA tracks to gain both weekly AMRA points as well as vying for a regional SEDMS point’s championship. We are working hard to add new venues to the 2016 schedule. “We would like to expand our footprint into Southern West Virginia, East Tennessee as well as Southern Maryland” states series co-owner Steve Summerlin. The series points fund will tip the $15,000 mark!

AMRA officials Mike and Angie Haught state “AMRA is proud to be affiliated with the Southeast Dirt Modified Series and excited that the tour has chosen to race using the AMRA rules package. We look forward to what the future will bring and to building a partnership beneficial to the modified racers and track promoters racing under the AMRA sanction and the Southeast Modified Touring Series banner.” The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is a National Sanctioning Body based in Racine, Ohio, which sanctions Open Wheel Modified auto racing in the U.S.
