Ray Cook Racing Runner-Up in Crate Portion of Gobbler; Heads to Swainsboro

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook Racing stormed into Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee on November 20-21 for the annual running of the 'Gobbler.' In Crate Late Model action, Ray Cook posted the quickest lap of the 50 entrants during qualifying to earn Fast Time honors. After running second in Friday's heat race, Ray started Saturday night's $2,000 to win feature event from the inside of the fourth row. The Brasstown, North Carolina native then vaulted all the way up to second in the 40-lapper to notch an impressive runner-up showing behind only victor Cory Hedgec0ck!

Behind the wheel of his #53 Capital Super Late Model, Ray clicked off the seventh fastest time in Southern Nationals Bonus Series qualifying on Friday prior to grabbing the fifth and final transfer spot through his heat race. The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" then raced hard early in the $10,000 to win main event before falling a lap down to eventual winner Chris Madden and subsequently retiring from the 77-lap headliner in the nineteenth position. Full results from the 'Gobbler' weekend can be accessed online at www.clevelandspeedwayllc.com.

Ray will unload his Crate Late Model again this upcoming weekend (November 27-28) at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia. The 15th Annual ‘Southern Dream Turkey 100’ is on tap in the Peach State over Thanksgiving weekend and a whopping $20,000 winner’s check is on the line. Qualifying and heat race action will get things kicked off at Swainsboro on Friday night, while consolation events and the 100-lap feature are set for Saturday evening. Ray, who did not enter the CLM extravaganza last season, won the $20,000 top prize in 2012 and finished an impressive runner-up in 2013.
