(January 16, 2016 - Senoia, GA) The anticipation of the 2016 season at Senoia Raceway grew stronger earlier this week when the 3/8ths mile speed plant released it’s season schedule. The second year promotional team of Bill Massey, Mayes Massey and Doug Stevens unfurled a line-up of racing that has the area racing community buzzing with excitement.

“I cannot wait for the year to get going,” said James Beverly on the track’s social media page. “I will be there November 17th through the 19th and as much during the season as possible.”

Beverly referred to the newly created year end special that was announced with the schedule release. This fall the track known as the ‘Bull Ring’ will showcase three divisions of late models and several other classes in a three day showdown culminating with a $10,000 to win main event for the Super Late Models. It will be the richest payday in the history of the track.

“We were really excited to announce the inaugural Showdown in Senoia weekend,” said Mayes Massey. “We saw some really good competition last year, but many of our special shows had conflicts with other series. This November show will stand alone and should bring some of the very best to compete on this tough track.”

Drivers will have plenty of opportunity to prepare for the year end special. Senoia Raceway will open it’s gates for the season opener on Saturday, March 5th. The Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, B Cadets, Hobby Stock, Bomber and Mini Stock will compete weekly with a number of special events for all classes. The season will continue through the end of October before ending with the Showdown.

Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals will make a return to the ‘Bull Ring’ at the end of March with a first time double-header weekend. Super Late Model competitors will race for a $4000 to win purse on Friday before Saturday night’s $6000 to win tilt.

The Southern All Star Dirt Late Model tour will return to the track for the first time in over thirty years with a pair of races. Tour competitors will chase a $4000 pay day on May 14th before returning for the 2nd Annual Billy Clanton Classic on Saturday, July 2nd. Defending World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion Shane Clanton is expected to defend his first year title in the Classic honoring his late father.

Other special events include the Summer Sizzler in mid-June for the Limited Late Models; Friends of the Dream 40 for Super Late Models in August and the Senoia Summer Nationals VII for the winged outlaw sprint cars just before Labor Day. The season points race will begin on April 16th and conclude with a double points shoot-out on September 10th. The track will again award trophies and year end point fund bonuses to the top drivers in each of their seven weekly divisions.

Racers and race fans can get an early season jump on the action at the track’s open practice on Saturday, February 27th from 6pm to 9pm. Grandstand admission that day will be free.
