Default Winters Mag Rear End ?

    1) Is it safe to heat a mag rear end in order to put axle tubes in? Magnesium dust is pyrophoric and I've heard heating mag can weaken the rear end 2) Aside from out gassing, would it hurt it to powder coat it? Powder calls for 20 minutes at 400*

I have warmed mag bells up before with no issues. Put the tubes in the freezer and they will practically fall in the bell.

Powder coated the bell at 400, soon as it came out the oven the tube dropped right in

what about heating the center section to powder coat it? How bad is to disassemble and reassemble a center?

Ive put mag bells in the oven at 400 before, just clean off the gear oil good or u will stink up the house. And I put the axle tube in a bucket of ice water. All slipped together easily.
