CARTERSVILLE, GA – A Winter Storm Warning for North Georgia has forced postponement of the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA scheduled for this Saturday night. The NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet has been rescheduled for Saturday night, February 20.

The National Weather Service is forecasting ice accumulations along with snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches in the valleys and 5 to 10 inches in the higher elevations. Travel is not recommended in the area.

“Everyone’s safety is first and foremost and the last thing we want to do is to put anyone in a dangerous environment going to and coming from our Awards Banquet,” NeSmith Racing Founder and CEO Mike Vaughn said. “We look forward to seeing everyone at our Winter Shootout races in Florida and Georgia, and then we’ll come back to Dawsonville for the banquet on February 20.”

The RockAuto.com Winter Shootout races for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series that Vaughn spoke of will take place on January 28, 29, and 30 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL and on February 5 and 6 at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA.

The four races at Bubba Raceway Park will feature a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race on Thursday night, January 28, a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on Friday night, January 29, and a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race on Saturday afternoon, January 30, the first of two shows on that date. The rescheduled non-points 100-lap $10,000-to-win 11th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race will be on Saturday night, January 30.

After the opening of the Bubba’s Army Winternationals at Bubba Raceway Park, the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series moves the RockAuto.com Winter Shootout to Golden Isles Speedway for the Super Bowl of Racing for Rounds 5 and 6. The Friday night, February 5 show will be 40-laps and $2,000-to-win, and the Saturday night, February 6 event will be 50-laps and $3,000-to-win.

William Thomas of Phenix City, AL won Round 1 of the RockAuto.com Winter Shootout on January 10 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. The final two Rounds of the Winter Shootout will take place at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA on February 27 and 28.
