Default To grind or not to grind new Hoosier mediums?

We just started using these at Eastbay and we don't have much experience with them, both cars are getting new sets as we speak.

Should we grind them or not?

the mold release ,and outer skin of tire need to be scuffed off.

You never want to grind with the wheel cutting into the tread block that will be facing the outside of the track. So you want the wheel spinning off that edge to sharpen it, not cutting into that edge and dulling it. So you have to think about where the tire is on the car, where you are standing and what direction the grinder is spinning. When that edge is gone, I flip the tire and sharpen the other side of the tread block. After that, time for a new tire and if you give me any money at all for it, its yours. I like a 36 grit disc, but everyone is different.

Contrary to popular belief, Hoosier does not use a mold release agent.
I'm not saying you should NOT scuff new tires but the mold release thing is a common misconception.
