CARTERSVILLE, GA – LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA has signed on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racings Series for Late Models and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division for the 2016 racing season. LA 36 Speedway drivers in both divisions will compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund.

NeSmith Racing has sanctioned both the NeSmith Late Models and the NeSmith Street Stocks in previous seasons at the facility when it was known by different names. A new group has taken over the reins of the track, and renamed it LA 36 Speedway, being that the track is located on Louisiana Highway 36, and given the facility a complete makeover for the 2016 season.

Businessmen/Racers Bill Stewart, Bob Boyd, and Boyd’s son Michael Mozingo are the new promoters of LA 36 Speedway, and all three men have been busy since late last year making improvements to the track with new concession areas, new rest room facilities, and a new clay racing surface.

“We regard NeSmith Racing as a solid racing organization that provides race tracks with good car counts,” Co-Promoter Bob Boyd said. “The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models have always been strong here and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division is really growing, and we want to be a part of that growth. These two NeSmith Racing Divisions will help us reach our goal of giving the fans at LA 36 Speedway a quality show and a quality facility.”

Many NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship contenders have spent their Saturday nights at LA 36 Speedway through the years, including the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS.

In competing for the National point fund in both Divisions, LA 36 Speedway drivers will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Late Model and Street Stock tracks throughout the country using a point system.

The 2016 NeSmith Late Model and Street Stock Weekly Racing Series season for National points will be for 27 weeks from March 21, 2016 through September 25, 2016. During the 27-week season, a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National total.

The $20,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the final point standings. The $5,000 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the final point standings.
