    Default Pelican 100

Is this right? 100 laps for 10K? How does any race get by with that? What kind of field will that draw? I would think that most owners wouldn't pull the car to the track for that. JMO

Yes that is correct. The track isn't some big half mile that is an engine and tire killer. It's a large 1/4 mi track that's easy on equipment and tires. Should be 50 to 60 cars there. And it will be a good race btw. If you don't think so, you need to go back and watch all the videos on DoD on previous races there. Most people forget about this race by years end. If it was run late in the season it would be up there for race of the year. The place is know for VERY good racing with 3 and 4 grooves. You don't see that in many 1/4 mile race tracks.

The videos that I have seen of the last 2 Pelican 100's have been amazing. Cars racing top to bottom the entire 100 laps. Looks like a track that is easy on equipment, and excellent for 3 wide action.

Ark-La-Tex is extremely easy on equipment and tires.. Most guys will be on 1300's with a 1350 RR for 100 laps

I see you all handled that quite well. Now can you do something about 12 inches of rain in a week? :-/

The event has averaged 43 Late Models over 4 years of events with 51 in 2014. Unfortunately, we are forced to cancel for the 2nd year in a row.

And it's call for more next wk too.. think they should move to a feb. Or let April race. Feb it don't get that cold here high 70s low 50s most of the time. But I do hope they find away to get Pelican 100 going.

The race has varied from the last weekend of February to mid March. Last year we had it scheduled for the last weekend of Feb with a rain date of the first weekend of March. Got SNOWED out twice! That's a once a decade event.

This year, those two weekends were absolutely beautiful. USMTS was here on Feb 25-27. Got great weather and a great race. The next weekend, both Lonestar and Boothill got races on a beautiful March 5th.

Then we get record floods for the Pelican. SMH

KWD I don't think they've had any in a few years for SLM's. They do the USMTS stuff though obviously.

10-4, yeah it seems like Shreveport and Little Rock always have weather trouble for big events.

Too much risk for a track that seats a little more than a thousand people to do. Those purses are huge. We do a COMP Cams SDS race once a year. Got the last 4 in. Had 44 for 2000 to win at one of them. SUPR returned last year as well.
