OMG Spring Nationals 4th Annual Spring Showdown Opens Ponderosa Speedway April 29

Junction City, KY-April 17, 2016- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson is set to begin the 2016 racing season on Friday April 29 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as Ray Cook’s Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals will sanction the 4th Annual Spring Showdown.

The track will host an open practice session on Thursday April 28 for all divisions. Gates will open on Thursday April 28 for the practice at 5:00 p.m. and practice laps will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. General admission in the grandstand will be FREE, while a pit pass will be $20.

Of note, track promoter Jerry Denson wants to assure all the race fans and competitors that all the electrical issues have been updated, but construction will be on-going as the track continues to add additional seating, but racing will begin on Friday April 29.

The 2016 season will get underway at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday April 29 with the track’s 4th Annual Spring Showdown that will feature the Ray Cook promoted Old Man’s Spring Nationals in a 40 lap, $4,000 to win/$400 to start main event. Also on the racing card for Friday April 29 will be Pro (Crate) Late Models (25 laps/$1,000 to win), Modifieds (20 laps/$800 to win), KDRA Super Stocks (15 laps/$500 to win), and Four Cylinders (12 laps/$300 to win). The Mini-Cup/Cyclone division will not be in competition. The Super Late Models will use A-B group time trials, while the other divisions will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions. Transponders will be used for timing and scoring (can be rented at the track) and RACEceivers are mandatory for use in all divisions. All drivers are urged to be at the track and signed in by 7:00 p.m.

Activities for the 4th Annual Spring Showdown on Friday April 29 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice/time trials set to roll around 7:20 p.m., with racing taking the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices for the 4th Annual Spring Showdown on Friday April 29 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE, while a pit pass will be $40.
