CARTERSVILLE, GA – Only two of seven scheduled NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events were able to escape Mother Nature’s grip on Week 6 festivities. Rain washed out five races, but a pair of veteran dirt late model drivers did find their way to Victory Lane.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS drove the Byram Trucking Rocket to his first win of the 2016 season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished second to stay on top of the list.

Shep Lucas of McKenzie, AL won the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race on Saturday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL driving the Lucas Farms Special. Lucas broke the winning streak of Cody Smith of Holt, FL, who won the first three NPCS races. Smith finished second in the Smith’s Performance Rocket to stay in the NPCS point lead.

Lee remains on top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 295 points after two wins, seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.
