Jimmy Mars Records Pair of Runner-Up Efforts; Readies for Farmer City & FALS

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) For the second straight weekend, Jimmy Mars and his father-in-law Paul Gilberts went racing together on April 29-30 at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. In a weekly Late Model event on Friday night at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later started the $1,000 to win A-Main from the outside of the fourth row. The Menomonie native then disposed of six competitors during the course of the race and finished a strong runner-up behind only victor Jake Redetzke.

Another weekly Late Model show was held on Saturday evening at Cedar Lake Speedway and a $1,200 top prize was up for grabs. Jimmy placed second in his heat race prior to rolling off from the outside of the third row in the feature event. The "Iceman" then delivered another sterling performance in front of his home state fans by climbing to as high as second to record another runner-up effort behind only race winner A.J. Diemel. Complete results from both weekend races can be viewed online at www.redcedarspeedway.com and www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

The Mars Racing team will head back out on the road this upcoming weekend (May 6-7), as they will unload their familiar white Deppe Enterprises #28 MB Customs entry at a pair of facilities in the Land of Lincoln. The Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois will kick things off on Friday night by hosting a $5,000 to win MARS DIRTcar Series and American Late Model Series (ALMS) co-sanctioned showdown. A similar program will then be held on Saturday evening at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, but a $10,000 winner’s check will be on the line.
