    Default Powerglide Question

Got our converters teched tonight, they just use a temp gun to make sure it is operating, ours measured 100 degrees higher than everybody else according to the tech official. Is there anything particular that would cause this? Guessing just slippage in the trans heating the fluid, haven't checked it out yet, will be looking at it in the morning, just wanted some opinions before I dig into it.

Converter temperature in a Powerglide can relate to a few things. Not all are bad. How high was your temperature? Trans temp most times depends on if you run a cooler or not and the converter. Converter temperature is dependent on the amount of oil flow through the converter. A stock Powerglide can have one of 5 different size oil hole to the converter. Most race rebuilders increase the size of the hole to increase the flow. Converters build more temperature as the stall speed is increased and the clearances are increased in the converter. Also size of converter will affect the temp. The smaller the converter the more temp it will build.
With out knowing what the temp was and if it has changed it might be that the other ones are 100 degrees to low and yours is working like it should.
