http://www.maconracing.com/2016/05/h...acon-speedway/ Hornet Challenge To Be Made Up This Saturday At Macon Speedway Field Is Nearly Set For $1,000 To Win Event Hornet drivers from a few different states converged on Central Illinois last weekend at Lincoln and Macon Speedways for the $1,000 to win Hornet challenge races. Decatur, IL driver Adam Webb bested a field of 20+ competitors on Friday night at Lincoln, while Mother Nature won Saturday’s event with some rainfall right before the green was scheduled to drop. It has been announced that the race will be run this coming Saturday, May 14. The rescheduled date this Saturday will see a 25-lap event run early in the night in addition to regular heats and a feature for the Hornet division that were already scheduled for the night. While the Hornet Challenge feature field is nearly set, additional starters up to a 22-car field will be allowed. Right now, 20 drivers are locked in, however, Jay Orr and Zane Miller have already passed along the word that they will not be making the long trip to Central Illinois this weekend. That takes the field down to 18, leaving at least four spots open at the tail. Anyone wishing to join the starting field for the Hornet Challenge will have to pay for the entry fee and an additional pit pass at the pill draw window. This Saturday night’s program features the Hornet Challenge makeup plus Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Big Ten Series Street Stocks, and Hornets. Originally, the Beach House Micros were scheduled for this date, however, the POWRi Micros will be running a race at Southern Illinois Raceway. Therefore, the Micro event has been postponed to the May 30th, Memorial Day Monday Special. Pabst Blue Ribbon is the sponsor of this Saturday’s program, which will feature a PBR Happy Hour between 5:00 and 7:00. During that time, PBR cans will be just $2.00. In addition, it is college night where students receive free admission by showing proper college ID at the gate. Pit gates open this Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw ends at 5:50, hotlaps start at 6:00, Pro Late Model qualifying at 6:45, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for kids 11 and under. Spectator Drags Added To This Saturday's Macon Speedway Show Officials Accepting First Eight Entries For Debut Event The action at Macon IL Speedway just got a little more interesting for this Saturday, May 14. In addition to an already fun evening that includes five divisions of racing, free admission with proper college ID, and $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon Happy Hour from 5:00-7:00, spectator drags have just been added to the night's card. A spectator drag event, also known as parking lot drags, allows someone who isn't normally a racecar driver, to sign up to compete in a one lap, one-on-one style race for a chance to move into the next round, using their own street legal vehicle. At the end, the final two drivers matchup in the bracket style finale with a chance to take home the trophy. There is no fee to participate in the race, other than the ticket or wristband purchased to enter the facility that night. Each race will be one lap in length from a non-moving start at the line. Competitors must wear a helmet and seat belts and be at least 18 years of age. Track officials are currently accepting entries by phone at 217-764-3200. Only 8 entries will be permitted to race this Saturday, with four races in the first round, then two semi-final races, before the championship event. Not only is this event fun for the participants, giving them a chance to race on Mighty Macon, but a blast for the fans as well.
