Jason Hughes Wins at Amarillo; Claims Southern Region Title

Westville, Oklahoma (05/10/16) – Jason Hughes not only scored the $3,000 victory with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Saturday evening at Route 66 Motor Speedway, but he also claimed the Production Jars Southern Region title in his West Siloam Pawn #12 Hughes/Mullins Racing Engine Modified.

Following a rainout last weekend, Jason Hughes returned to Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas) on Thursday night for the United States Modified Touring Series-sanctioned, 2nd Annual North Texas Nationals. Improving two spots in his heat, Hughes secured his spot into the feature with a runner-up finish behind Bobby Ruffin. Starting in 6th for the $3,000-to-win show, Jason raced in the top ten throughout the 40-lap affair before recording a 6th-place finish.

Continuing with the USMTS, Jason traveled to Lubbock Speedway (Lubbock, Texas) on Friday for the Production Jars Southern Region event presented by Day Motor Sports. Cruising to a heat race win, Jason earned a front-row, starting spot for the feature starting alongside Rodney Sanders. Holding his spot for all 37-laps, Hughes notched a runner-up finish behind Sanders with Jesse Sobbing, Dereck Ramirez, and Cade Dillard trailing them across the finish line.

Wrapping up the three-day stint, Hughes headed to Route 66 Motor Speedway (Amarillo, Texas) on Saturday night for the 7th Annual USMTS Amarillo Ambush. Improving six spots in his heat race, Hughes scored a 2nd place finish, setting him up with the pole position for the feature. With $3,000 on the line, Jason regained the lead with 12-laps to go, en route to picking up his fourth win of the year with Rodney Sanders, Scott Drake, Jeremy Gossett, and Cade Dillard rounding out the top five.

With his weekend performances Hughes also claimed the USMTS Production Jars Southern Region title. Complete results from these events can be found at www.USMTS.com .
