Dennis Erb, Jr. Posts Top Fives in Douglas Dodge 40 and FALS Frenzy!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sitting idle over Mother's Day weekend, Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team took advantage by staying closer to home to enter a pair of high-profile MARS DIRTcar Series and American Late Model Series (ALMS) showdowns in their home state of Illinois on May 6-7. On Friday night at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois, a $5,000 top prize was on the line in the annual running of the 'Douglas Dodge 40.' Dennis clicked off the fourth fastest lap in his group during qualifying prior to running second in heat race action. After starting the 40-lap headliner from the outside of the fourth row, Dennis blasted forward and fought valiantly for a podium finish before eventually garnering a fourth place performance behind only victor Billy Moyer, Brandon Sheppard, and Kevin Weaver.

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening for the $10,000 to win 'FALS Frenzy.' Dennis laid down the fifth quickest time overall during the qualifying session and later scored an impressive heat race triumph. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the 50-lapper, the Carpentersville, Illinois star advanced all the way up to second before finishing a close third behind only race winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Earl Pearson, Jr. Full results from both weekend shows can be accessed online at www.marsracingseries.com.

Dennis Erb Racing will now set their sights on the inaugural running of the ‘Buckeye Nationals’ at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on May 13-14. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the two-day extravaganza, which will boast a whopping $50,000 winner’s check. Qualifying and heat races will kick things off on Friday night, while consolation events and the 75-lap ‘Buckeye Nationals’ will thrill fans on Saturday evening. Dennis comes into the weekend seventh in the current version of the LOLMDS point’s chase.
