SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES PR#25

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Inclement weather forces Volunteer Speedway, Southern All Stars to postpone 'Scott Sexton Memorial' scheduled for Saturday, May 21

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Volunteer Speedway owners Joe and Phyllis Loven and Southern All Star Racing Series General Manager Lynn Acklin have talked regarding the $5,200-to-win fourth annual Scott Sexton Memorial scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at "The Gap." With the National Weather Service forecast showing possible heavy amounts of rain on both Friday and Saturday around East Tennessee, and with several race teams outside the region facing driving times between 3-5 hours towing to the track, the decision has been made to postpone the event and look for a suitable date to reschedule.

"There's nothing any of us can do when it comes to controlling the weather," said SAS General Manager Lynn Acklin. "The National Weather Service forecast shows rain around East Tennessee over the next couple of days, and really rain is predicted all across the South. So with some race teams having to drive between 3-5 hours towing to the track, and with the rainy weather forecast, really the best thing to do is just postpone the event and we'll work on a suitable date to reschedule.

"You've got to factor in the cost of fuel to travel and then racing get rained-out, then they're (race teams) losing money driving up-and-down the interstates. When everybody is looking at weather forecasts on the Internet and cable television on The Weather Channel and seeing the rain predicted, you're really not wanting to leave your home-base to make a wasted trip."
