Rodney Sanders Wins at Mason City; MLRA Tripleheader Next

Happy, Texas (06/01/16) – Rodney Sanders saw his five-race weekend reduced to a pair of races by Mother Nature, but he still found time to score another $3,000 triumph behind the wheel of his #20 MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified. The win came on Thursday evening with the United States Modified Touring Series at Mason City Motor Speedway.

Continuing with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) RealTruck.com Northern Region, Rodney Sanders traveled to Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) on Thursday night. With 27-entries registered, Sanders gained five spots in his heat race, scoring a 3rd-place finish. Earning a front row starting spot for the feature alongside Lucas Schott, Rodney jumped into the lead on the opening lap and never looked back. Leading all 32-laps, Rodney Sanders scored a dominating win to claim the $3,000 payday for his sixth victory of the season. Jason Hughes, Johnny Scott, Lucas Schott, and Masen Big Eagle rounding out the top five competitors.

With persistent rain winning both of the USMTS events scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Rodney Sanders returned to action on Sunday for the USMTS program at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, Iowa). Drawing 26-entries for the 9th Annual “Donnybrook in Decorah”, Sanders logged a 6th-place finish in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the top six, Sanders cruised to a 15-lap B-Main victory. Starting in 17th for the 42-lap affair, Rodney advanced eleven positions, recording a 6th-place finish.

“It wasn’t much fun watching it rain most of the weekend, but at least we were able to sneak a couple of events in there and get a win,” said Sanders.

Rodney remains in fourth in the USMTS Southern Region point standings and second in the Central Region. For more results from these events as well as the latest standings, please visit www.USMTS.com .
