    Iron-Man Mtn. Championship Opens Season in Eastern Kentucky June 17 & 18
    Mountain Motor Speedway and 201 Speedway each pay $3,000-to-win

    SOMERSET, KY (June 11, 2016)—The Inaugural events of the Iron-Man Mountain Championship are quickly approaching as the eight-race regional tour for Super Late Models will kick off in Eastern Kentucky on June 17 and 18.

    The series will open on Friday Night June 17th at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, Ky. paying $3,000-to-win and $250-to-start during the running of the Kentucky Mist Moonshine-sponsored 30-lap main event. The Open Wheel Modifieds, Bombers and Four Cylinders will all be on the racing card for the night’s events.

    On Saturday June 18th the tour will head over to 201 Speedway in Sitka, Ky. for the Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial paying $3,000-to-win and $250-to-start. The Bill Cloud Memorial for the Bomber class will pay $1,000-to-win that night along with racing in the Open Wheel Modifieds and Four Cylinders.

    At both Mountain Motor and 201 Speedways, gates will open at 3:00 pm with the driver’s meeting slated for 6:30 pm and hot laps at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission each night is $20.00 while adult pit passes each night are $35.00.

    Mountain Motor Speedway has been revitalized by promoter Tony Sturgill and company after the track was closed for several seasons and new improvements have been made to the Letcher County oval including a new racing surface, new lighting, and various other facility upgrades. This will mark the first Iron-Man Super Late Model event held at Mountain Motor Speedway since the 2010 race that saw Martin, Ky. driver Shannon Thornsberry go to victory lane. The last major Super Late Model visits by a touring series to Mountain Motor was won Josh McGuire in June 2012 in a USDCS race and Dustin Linville in July 2011 during a STARS MDRL race. Mountain Motor Speedway hosts the first of two scheduled series events on June 17th with the second event set for Friday august 5th paying $3,000-to-win in the Mountain Dirt Classic event.

    201 Speedway last hosted an “Iron-Man” racing event on September 3, 2015 as Jackie Boggs claimed the $3,000 payday in the Iron-Man Speed Week opening event. Michael Chilton of Salvisa, Ky. went on to claim the championship and his third Iron-Man title. 201 Speedway hosts the first of three scheduled Iron-Man Mountain Championship races on June 18th with the other two races being the Hatfield & McCoy Feuding 50 on August 6th paying $5,000-to-win and the Halloween 30 on October 1st paying $3,000-to-win.

    Each night will feature a complete show of practice, qualifying, heat races, consolation races and the 30-lap main event. The Super Late Model tire rule for the June 17 and 18 weekend is as follows: American Racer 44, 48 and 56 compounds along with the Hoosier 1300, 1350 and 1600 compounds. The series entry fee is $50.00 per event. The Super Late Model weight Rules are 2300 lbs. for open engines and 2200 lbs. for steel block (also 525 or crate) engines.

    The Iron-Man Mountain Championship features eight events (June 17 through October 1) paying a minimum of $3,000-to-win. The min-tour features a $1,000 points fund for three positions and nightly contingencies. The Champion will receive $500, second place receives $300 while third place receives $200. The tour’s perfect attendance drivers will be entered into drawings for a free vinyl wrap courtesy of Victory Signs & Designs of Sparta, Tenn. and another drawing for $2,000 off towards the purchase of a new chassis from Revelution Race Cars of Richmond, Ky. Also, driver’s that run the entire tour will be entered into a drawing for several random products from Schaeffer’s Oil by Ed Lowe.

    -American Racer South will award $100 product certificate to the highest finishing driver on American Race Tires in the main event.
    -Double H Race Fabrications will award a $50 product certificate to the 10th place driver each night in the main event.
    -Schaeffer’s Oil by Ed Lowe will award a Case of Oil to the Feature Event Winner each night.
    -Revelution Race Cars will award a $50 product certificate to the highest finishing Revelution Race Car each night in the main event.
    -Vic Hill Race Engines will award a $50 product certificate to the highest finishing Vic Hill Race Engine each night in the main event.
