Thread: Spun bearing

    Default Spun bearing

This may be a dumb question, but what would cause a spun bearing on the crankshaft? I'm just trying to learn, & see if I could have done anything wrong!!

Did you spin a main or rod bearing? Did you at least Plasti-Gage the clearances when you assembled the engine? Do you have an oil-temp gauge down in the pan? Did your oil-pressure gauge look OK at idle and across the rpm band? Were you running at least a 10W-40 good racing oil? 84Dave
