Jeep Van Wormer Readies for Hartford and Oakshade Following Dream XXII

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) The Iron Motorsports team made their yearly pilgrimage to the hallowed ground of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 9-11 for the 22nd edition of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Action got underway at the 1/2-mile, high-banked venue with a pair of Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday night, Jeep Van Wormer unfortunately was involved in an incident in his heat race and wound up thirteenth in his B-Main, which left him on the outside looking in during the $5,000 to win main event. In Friday's $10,000 to win show, Jeep ran sixth in his heat race, won his B-Main, and later placed eighteenth in the 25-lap sprint.

Things ratcheted up in a big way on Saturday evening, as a whopping $100,000 top prize was on the line in 'Dream XXII.' Jeep ran fifth in his stacked heat race prior to grabbing the second transfer spot through his consolation event. After starting the 100-lap headliner from the inside of the twelfth row, the Pinconning, Michigan ace moved forward early in the distance before unfortunately getting involved in an incident on a lap 38 restart. Jeep retired from the extra-distance affair with heavy damage and was relegated to a twenty-second place performance. Complete results from the action-packed weekend at Eldora Speedway can be found online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“It was an uphill battle all weekend at Eldora it seemed, but I am proud of my team for all of their hard work and we got into the big show,” quoted Van Wormer this week via telephone while working in Texas. “We got the car the best it had been all weekend on Saturday night for the feature and I really feel like we were going to get a top ten finish. Unfortunately, we got in that wreck and messed the car up pretty good, which put an end to our run.”

The #55 team has two more special events on their radar over the upcoming June 17-18 weekend. On Friday night, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour will sanction a $4,000 to win shootout at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan. The dirt-slinging action will then quickly shift to Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday evening for the 27th Annual ‘Barney Oldfield Race.’ The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will preside over the single-day showdown at Oakshade, which boasts a $5,200 winner’s check.
