Greg Johnson Goes the Distance during Walter ‘Peg” Combs Memorial at 201 Speedway

From Series Reports

Isom, KY (June 17, 2016)- The CT Promotions Iron-Man Mountain Championship Series would run the second leg of the eight-race mini-tour on Saturday Night June 18th at 201 Speedway in Sitka, Ky. Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind. Would be victorious in the main event leading all 30 laps for the $3,000 payday. Johnson drove the JP Motorsports, Picker’s Paradise and Jay Construction-sponsored Pro-Power Race Engines-powered Club 29 Race Car to the win and became the second different winner in two events on the tour.

Polesitter Johnson and Brandon Fouts brought the field of 20 to life for the start of the 30-lapper with Johnson getting the lead early. Johnson would hold off and maneuver through lapped traffic during a long green flag period to take the payday over third-starting Dustin Linville, Fouts, Stephen Breeding and Josh Hall.

Three caution flags slowed the main event. On lap three, Jared Butcher came to a stop in turn two for the first yellow flag then on lap six, James Butcher stopped on the front stretch to bring out another yellow. On the ninth lap, Kye Blight spun his entry in turn four to bring out the third and final yellow flag.

Rounding out the top-ten drivers were Terry Hicks, Kye Blight, Brian Salisbury, Chris Combs and DJ Wells.

The series will be back in action next Saturday June 25th co-sanctioned with the Southern Nationals Bonus Series at the Richmond (Ky.) Raceway for the 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic paying $10,050-to-win and $500-to-start.
