    Default $10,050 to win Iron-Man Classic at Richmond (KY) Raceway Saturday June 25th

    Southern Nationals visits Richmond Raceway for Iron-Man Classic June 25th
    12th edition of the CT Promotions Iron-Man Classic pays $10,050 to winner

    RICHMOND, Ky. – June 20, 2016 – The 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic at Richmond (Ky.) Raceway will take place on Saturday June 25th as the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and the Iron-Man Mountain Championship tours will battle head-to-head for the $10,050 payday.

    In addition to the Super Late Models, the Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $1,000-to-win, the AR Bodies KDRA-sanctioned Super Stocks will compete for $750-to-win and the Warlock Race Cars-sponsored Mini-Cup/Cyclones will also be on the racing card.

    An open practice session will be held on Friday June 24th from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. General admission is free while pit passes are $20.00.

    On Saturday June 25th, the pits open at 2:00 pm and the grandstand gates open at 3:30 pm. Driver registration will close at 5:30 pm and the drivers meeting will begin at 5:45 pm and practice set to begin at 6:15 pm. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under admitted FREE. A pit pass will be $40, children ages 6 to 12 will be $15, and children ages 5 and under are free.

    When the Southern Nationals Bonus Series last visited Richmond Raceway in July 2015, Mike Marlar claimed the $10,028 victory over Jason Jameson, Justin Rattliff, Jackie Boggs and Josh Rice.

    Richmond Raceway will offer bonuses for the three highest finishing drivers that utilize a Crate engine powered car in the main event. The highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $100 bonus, second highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $75 bonus, and the third highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $50 bonus, while the series will offer a $200 bonus for the highest finishing competitor using a Steel Head/SPEC engine and a $200 bonus for the highest finishing competitor utilizing a CT525 power-plant. The Super Late Model division will have an entry fee for this event and it will be $100, while the tire rule for Super Late Models for this event on all four corners of the race cars will be as follows: Hoosier 1300, 1350, and 1600 or American Racer 44, 48, and 56.

    The June 25th event will feature a complete show of practice, FK Rod End’s Qualifying, Heat Races, Last Chance Races and the 60-lap $10,050-to-win event. Transponders (available at the track for $10.00) will be mandatory for the event. Since it is a co-sanctioned race, one series provisional will be one for the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and one will be for the Iron-Man Mountain Championship point drivers. If all Iron-Man Mtn. Championship tour perfect attendance cars are in the show then two Southern Nationals provisionals will be given.

    There have been four different winners in four events so far on the Southern Nationals Bonus Series. Cory Hedge(ock of Loudon, Tenn. won the season-opening event on February 27th and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. won the second points event on March 19th. Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. won on May 21st at Crossville (Tenn.) Speedway and Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. won the series’ most recent event on May 30th at Tri-County Race Track.

    There have been two different Iron-Man Mountain Championship winners in just two events. Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky. won the opening event on June 17th at Mountain Motor Speedway and Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind. won the June 18th event at 201 Speedway.

    The Iron-Man Classic is operated by CT Promotions of Somerset, KY and 2016 will mark the 12th edition of the event and it will mark the third time the event has been contested at Richmond Raceway. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN won the Iron-Man Classic event at Richmond in 2008, while Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY won the third-race of last year’s 2015 Iron-Man Classic Speedweek at Richmond Raceway, while Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY was the overall Iron-Man Classic points champion for 2015.
