Jeep Van Wormer Advances to Fourth in Barney Oldfield Race; Ethanol Double-Dip Ahead

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team invaded Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan and Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on June 17-18 for a pair of special events. On Friday night at Hartford, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour presided over a $4,000 to win shootout. Jeep qualified third fastest in his group during time trials and later scored the victory in his heat race. Unfortunately, a shock issue caused him to pit during the 31-lap main event and the Pinconning, Michigan native was eventually credited with a thirteenth place effort.

At Oakshade on Saturday evening, the American Late Model Series (ALMS) sanctioned the annual running of the 'Barney Oldfield Race,' which carried a $5,200 top prize. Jeep motored past a trio of competitors during his heat race to finish third prior to rolling off from the outside of the fifth row in the 40-lap headliner. Jeep then advanced past six racecars on the mostly one-groove racing surface in the A-Main to secure a steady fourth place performance behind only victor Billy Moyer, Jr., Jon Henry, and Cody Mahoney. Complete results from both weekend races can be found online at www.aelmt.com and www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

Two more American Ethanol Late Model Tour showdowns are on the calendar for the Iron Motorsports team this week in their home state of Michigan. Action gets underway later tonight, June 22, at Mount Pleasant Speedway in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, while I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan will host the cars and stars of the AELMT on Friday evening, June 24. Both single-day programs will boast a $4,000 winner’s check. Additional information on the American Ethanol Late Model Tour can be accessed by clicking on www.aelmt.com.
