Jamie Stumph New Promoter at Ponderosa Speedway; First Race Saturday July 23

Junction City, KY (July 11, 2016)- Jamie Stumph is the new track promoter at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. Mr. Stumph has secured the lease on the track from previous promoter Jerry Denson and will operate the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” for the remainder of the 2016 season and beyond.

Mr. Stumph is no stranger to the world of dirt track racing, as he has been around the sport a majority of his life. A native of Harrodsburg, KY, Mr. Stumph has driven and owned race cars in various divisions for many years and is excited to be at the helm of the historic track. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to carry on the tradition of Ponderosa Speedway and hope to build on that tradition”, stated Stumph. “The remainder of the 2016 schedule will pretty much be followed, but we will change a few things and maybe add some more events as well if things work out for us. We will still be racing on Friday nights and still have a few Saturday night dates when possible.”, added Stumph.

The first event for new promoter Jamie Stumph will be the 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on SATURDAY July 23, with the event being sanctioned by the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass, with Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win. Also as part of the event, the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be in action in a $1,500 to win contest. The Pro (Crate) Late Models will be in action for $1,000 to win and KDRA Super Stock will also be in competition for $600 to win. Full purse payouts will be released later on this week for all divisions, along with gate and race times. For the Saturday July 23 event, tickets in the general admission area will be $20, while a pit pass will be $35.

The track will host a practice night prior to the Pete Abell Memorial event on Friday July 22 and will feature open practice for all divisions of race cars from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The open practice will see FREE admission in the grandstand area, while a pit pass will be $15.
