Ponderosa Speedway Presents 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on SATURDAY July 23

Junction City, KY (July 13, 2016)- New track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenivs will present his first racing program at the helm of Ponderosa Speedway with a rare SATURDAY night event at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” with the 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on SATURDAY July 23 with the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series racing for $1,500 to win, Pro (Crate) Late Models racing for $1,000 to win, and KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win.

The track will host an open practice night on Friday evening July 22. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and practice will take place from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. There will be FREE admission in the general admission area, while a pit pass will be $15.

Ponderosa Speedway will present the 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event on SATURDAY July 23 that will feature the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series Super Late Models in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win/$400 to start 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial A-Main. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will also be in action in a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and a 30 lap, $1,500 to win/$200 to start A-Main. The Pro (Crate) Late Models will also be in action with a 20 lap, $1,000 to win main event and KDRA Super Stocks will compete as well in a 15 lap, $600 to win feature event. The Pro (Crate) Late Models and KDRA Super Stocks will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to set their respective heat race line-ups. RACEceivers are mandatory for use in all divisions and transponder timing/scoring will be used and the transponder rental fee is $10 (Super Late Model drivers will get their transponders from the series and the rental is $20 or a $5 score fee if they have their own). All drivers are urged to be at the track and signed in by 6:30 p.m.

The Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series will utilize the following tire rules for Super Late Models for this event: Hoosier- 1300, 1350, 1600, UMP40; American Racer- 44, 48, or 56 (no ARTS 56), plus both can utilize the right rear 70 option if they choose to do so. The following is the engine type, weight, and spoiler size rules for the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series: GM 602 or 604- 2,200 lbs. /12 inch spoiler; SAS or SUPR SPEC- 2,300 lbs. /12 inch spoiler; GM CT525- 2,300 lbs. /12 inch spoiler; NLMS (358 cu in)- 2,200 lbs. /12 inch spoiler; Steel block, steel head (365 cu in)- 2,200 lbs. / 8 inch spoiler; Steel block, aluminum head (365 cu in)- 2,250 lbs. / 8 inch spoiler- Open engines 2300 lbs. / 8 inch spoiler. There is a one pound per lap burnoff rule as well. Entry fee for Late Model competitors for this event is $105.

The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will utilize the following tire rules for this event: Hoosier A40S or Hoosier H40 as a right rear option. All cars must weigh 2,400 lbs. The entry fee for the event is $50.

Activities for the 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event on SATURDAY July 23 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials for the Super Late Models and Modifieds, followed by green flag racing. Tickets prices for the 19th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on SATURDAY July 23 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35 for adults, with children ages 6 to 12 being $15, and children age 5 and under FREE.
