Mike Marlar Captures Brownstown “Bob Series” Win in Style

CARNESVILLE, Georgia (Aug. 7, 2016 – In Saturday night’s Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” Super Late Model Series stop at Brownstown Speedway, one thing was apparent by the time the checkers waved; in its first year, the Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” Super Late Model Series is establishing itself as a major player in the region, a fact bolstered by the drivers and race teams gravitating towards the series. Additionally, the “Bob Series” is quickly gaining popularity in respect to the level of competition seen on the track throughout the entire field from the time the green flag waves until the checkered flag is unfurled.

Another indelible mark in the wake of Saturday night’s Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” visit to Brownstown, a new Late Model track record was established in Ultimate ‘Battle of The Bluegrass” Super Late Model Series qualifying.

The “Bob Series “event marked Winfield, Tennessee’s Mike Marlar first visit to Brownstown Speedway in 2016. Quick in hot laps, Marlar established early on his Delk Equipment & Speedy Towing sponsored #157 atop a Longhorn Chassis would be a contender to set fast time

From there, Marlar’s night would just get better. In Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” qualifying, Marlar accomplished something never before done at Brownstown in its history which dates back to the 1960’s; No late Model has ever circled Brownstown Speedway in under 13 seconds. Marlar set fast time with a new Brownstown Speedway track record during Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” qualifying of 12.937 seconds.

From the poll by virtue of winning his heat race, Marlar would go on to capture the $3000 To Win Ultimate “Battle of The Bluegrass” 30 lap feature event.

Strong on restarts, Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY didn’t make it easy for Marlar as he was able to put the nose of his D8 underneath Marlar on a number of occasions but was unable to mount any more of a challenge as he was under attack throughout the event with pressure from behind from Olympia, KY’s Derek Fisher, Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN and Chad Stapleton of Edinburgh, IN.
