Jumping Cars, Steel Wall Crash, Fireworks, & Racing Coming To Macon Speedway Anticipation Builds For Craziness Of Second Eve Of Destruction Macon Speedway will be entertainment central for family fun this coming Saturday, August 13, as the second Eve of Destruction is held at the facility. Final preparations are being put into place for car jumps, a steel wall crash, fireworks, racing and more. Fans, both young and young at heart, will be treated to world renowned, Mr. Dizzy, who has appeared on the History Channel TV show, American Daredevils. Mr. Dizzy is a five time world record holder for different stunts that he has been able to accomplish. Mr. Dizzy will jump his car into a pyramid of vehicles and be part of a steel wall crash. In addition to those two events, fireworks will close out the show that includes racing action in six of Macon Speedway's divisions. Competing during the night will be the Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, Beach House Micros, UMP Hornets, and B-Mod’s. When it comes to the 1/5-mile racing, Springfield, IL driver Matt Taylor currently leads the UMP Pro Late Model standings, having claimed three feature wins. Lately, however, his brother Guy has been the man to beat, winning the last three features and five overall at the track this year. In the Billingsley Towing UMP Modified division, Taylorville, IL driver Curt Rhodes leads the standing by 32 over last year's champion Rodney Standerfer. Decatur, IL driver Nick Justice has won the last three Street Stock features and seven overall to lead that class. In the B-Mod division, Mt. Olive, IL driver, Tim Han(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) has been so good that he now has a bounty on him. Han(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) has won ten out of ten in the class. In the Hornet class, Tony Reed and Jerad Matherly have a good two man battle going on with both winning two features and Reed holding a 38 point lead. The Beach House Micros have only run a couple of times but action has been very good and saw 20+ cars at the event two weeks ago. Pit gates open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, registration closes at 6:00 when hotlaps begin, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Adult admission is $15, while children 11 and under are free.
