6th Annual UBB 29 Miners Memorial
$2900 To Win/$229 To Start

CARNESVILLE, Georgia (8/8/2016) – Saturday night, the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Division and the FASTRAK Southeast Touring Division both return to Princeton Speedway to compete in the 6th Annual UBB 29 Miners Memorial. Originally scheduled for the 29th of July, rain moved into the Princeton West Virginia area as FASTRAK Qualifying was underway. As series officials waited out the rain, the speedway postponed the event on the basis of the amount of rain visible on radar in the area.

Besieged by three consecutive postponements in just 8 days due to Mother Nature, both FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Division and FASTRAK Southeast Touring Series race teams are eager to be back on the track.

“I think the one thing that stands out the most that speaks volumes about our race teams in both segments [FASTRAK MOV and FASTRAK SE] is the sense of disappointment in not being on the racetrack” said Michael Hurley, FASTRAK Companies Intl Vice President.

“If there had been a go cart track in close proximity to any of the tracks where weather had been an issue, I think we could have loaded everybody up, lined ‘em up, dropped the rag and let ‘em go. I Can say with certainty, not a one of them would have passed on the opportunity”.

Saturday nights 6th Annual UBB 29 Miners Memorial honors the memories of 29 coal miners who lost their lives in an explosion at the Upper Big Branch Coal Mine just about 65 miles or so northwest of the speedway near Montcoal, WV on Monday April 5, 2010

Princeton Speedway will have commemorative t-shirts honoring those who perished which replicate the silhouette image of 29 coal miners standing shoulder to shoulder which appears on the Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial in Whitesville, WV The names of each miner lost in the UBB tragedy are on the t-shirt as well.

Throughout the night, the significance of the number 29 will be apparent.
FASTRAK MOV driver T.J. Salango of Glen Daniel WV whose car number is 18 on any other night, will compete in the number 29 Saturday night with a wrap on the car dedicated to the UBB 29 miners.

The combined FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley/FASTRAK Southeast Touring Divisions main event will also see something a little different related to the payout for the event

The 6th Annual UBB 29 Miners Memorial is a $2900 To Win/$290 To Start event. In addition, the fastest qualifier in FASTRAK qualifying will collect $229.00 for setting fast time.

Another event on the night’s schedule of events is the “Fast 6 Dash for Cash”; an event that will see the fastest 6 qualifiers in FASTRAK qualifying compete in a winner take all dash for cash style event with the winner collecting $290.00
