A.J. Fike of Galesburg, Illinois will attempt to do what only one driver in the history of The Springfield Mile has ever done, and that is win both the USAC Silver Crown Bettenhausen Memorial 100 miler and the ARCA 100 miler on the same weekend on the hallowed ground of The Illinois State Fairgrounds 1 mile dirt track.

A.J. won the ARCA race at Springfield last year and won the USAC Silver Crown Bettenhausen Memorial twice in consecutive years at Springfield back in 2012 and 2013.

The car count for the August 20th USAC Silver Crown race at Springfield is expected to exceed 30 cars and a last chance race will be likely be necessary. The ARCA race always draws a good car count, as well. Several of the ARCA cars are dirt track only cars that aren't used for any other races throughout the year besides Springfield & Du Quoin.

The two State Fair races at the Springfield Mile on August 20th & 21st more often than not offer very good racing and it won't break the bank to attend with tickets going for $25 both for Saturday's Silver Crown race and Sunday's ARCA show.

The USAC Silver Crown division has made a remarkable comeback since Andy Hillenburg took over the reigns and it would be great if his efforts are rewarded with a good crowd, so if you're looking for inexpensive racing entertainment for the weekend of the 20th & 21st of August Springfield is the place to be! POWRi are scheduled to be racing at Lincoln, Illinois on the evening of Friday August 19th and also at Macon Speedway on Saturday evening following that afternoon's USAC Silver Crown racing activities at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
