Satterlee Turns Worst Draw into $4,000 Win at UFo “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish 126” at Dog Hollow

(Port Royal, PA) – Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills drew the highest pill when he registered for the UFo “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish 126” at Dog Hollow Speedway, placing him on the rear of his heat race. Satterlee won that heat race and then showed the way to the checker flag and the $4,000 feature win in the event presented by Dave’s Auto Body and Ritchie Sandblasting of Woodbury, PA.

Satterlee swept the UFo Super Late Model events over the holiday weekend after winning the previous night at Port Royal Speedway. He is also 100% in 2016 UFo competition in 2016 with three wins in three appearances.

The event included a charity auction by the Bobik family in honor of their son Connor to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Bobiks raised over $11,000 through their projects in 2016, with a grand total of over $40,000 in the last five years.

Scott Rhodes, Dave Blazavich, Satterlee and Devin Friese were winners of the 11-lap heat races for the 36 car field. Charlie Powell won the first consolation, but was forced to scratch from the feature. Andy Fries won the second consolation. The redraw of the top 12 positions put Mike Blose and Joe Martin on the front row.

Blose jumped into the lead at the green and paced the first four laps. A caution flag appeared on lap four when a car spun, forcing five other cars to stop as well. On the restart, Martin powered into the lead, with Satterlee right behind him. The two put on a blazing battle for the lead over the next ten laps. On lap 15, Martin was pinned behind a lap car and Satterlee zoomed by as the pair went down the front straight.

Satterlee continue to build up a strong lead as the race ran caution free for the next 16 laps. With Martin in second, Tim Senic advanced into third on lap 30 before the caution appeared on the next lap. The field returned to green with a UFo double file restart with Satterlee still in control. Senic was able to overtake Martin in the first turn and assumed second position. Meanwhile, Dan Angelicchio had advanced to fourth with 16th starting Dave Hess, Jr. moving into fifth on lap 35.

On lap 37, Hess ran over the embankment on the back straight, but returned to the track only losing one position to Blazavich. Senic had on chance at Satterlee on lap 37 with the final double file restart of the race, but Satterlee staying in control. Satterlee raced his way to his second win of the weekend with $8,290 in total UFo prize money. Senic, Martin and Angelicchio followed. Blazavich and Hess crossed the line in a photo-finish with Balazavich barely taking fifth. Hess, Friese, Brian Tavenner, UFo point leader Dylan Yoder and JR Gentry rounded out the top ten.

The UFo Championship has two remaining massive events for the 2016 season. The $80,000 “Stateline ShootOut” at Stateline Speedway on September 8-9-10 will showcase two complete programs for the UFo Super Late Models paying $2,500 to win on Friday and $5,000 to win on Saturday. Mod Tour Big Block Modifieds are on the Friday program paying $2,500 to win. RUSH Crate Late Models will pay $2,000, Outlaw E-mods $1,400, Street Stocks $600, Pro-Mods $500, Sportsman $350, Pure Stocks $250 and Challengers $200 during the weekend.

The UFo “ThunderDog Showdown” on September 22-23-24 will be the tour finale again in 2016. Last year’s event generated the highest Super Late Model car count in the region. The UFo Super Late Models will race for $2,000 on Friday and $6,000 on Saturday. UFo Semi-Lates will return to action paying $1,500 to win during the weekend, with Pro/Crate Late Models also paying $1,500.
