Jeep Van Wormer Nabs Top Ten in World 100 Prelim at Eldora; Adds DTWC to Schedule

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) The #55 team pulled into the pit area at the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 8-10 for the 46th version of the famed 'World 100.' The three-day crown jewel extravaganza at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant drew 108 competitors and things kicked off at Eldora with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday night, Jeep Van Wormer finished fifth in his heat race before a B-Main incident left him with front end damage and unfortunately cost him a chance of transferring into the 25-lap main event. At the "Big E" on Friday evening, Jeep ran second in his heat race prior to bagging a solid eighth place performance in his 25-lapper.

When the calendar flipped to Saturday, all eyes were fixated on the 'Biggest Dirt Race in the World,' which boasted a $49,000 top prize and the famed globe trophy. Jeep placed eighth in his loaded heat race and twelfth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, both efforts kept the Pinconning, Michigan star out of the 'World 100,' which was eventually won by Bobby Pierce. Complete results from the extended weekend in the Buckeye State can be accessed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“It was just one of those weekends where things didn’t quite go our way,” commented Van Wormer earlier today. “Our program probably isn’t as good as it should be mainly because we haven’t raced a lot this year, but we didn’t have a lot of luck on our side either. I had a pretty good run in Friday’s show (finishing eighth) and if we would have transferred out of Thursday’s B-Main instead of getting taken out by (Craig) Vosbergen, I think we hit the invert and start on the front row in Saturday’s heat race. That would have made a huge difference, but that’s not how it all worked out. We will just go back to work at the shop to try to find a little speed and get ready for the Dirt Track World Championship.”

Jeep and the Iron Motorsports team are scheduled to enjoy the next several weekends away from the racetrack before rolling into Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 14-15 for the annual running of the ‘Dirt Track World Championship.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggie on the banks of the Ohio River will once again pay a whopping $100,000 to the winner. There is a slight chance Jeep may add a race to his schedule before the DTWC, so be sure to keep checking his latest schedule plans by logging onto www.jeepvanwormer.com.
