Dennis Erb, Jr. Shows Speed Again at Eldora; Runner-Up in World 100!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and the #28 team stormed into the hallowed grounds of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 8-10 for the 46th edition of the 'World 100.' The "Biggest Dirt Race in the World" was held over the weekend at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant and 108 competitors piled into the pit area to compete in the three-day extravaganza, which started with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary programs. On Thursday night, Dennis ran second in his heat race prior to posting a strong third place podium effort in the 25-lap feature behind only victor Matt Miller and runner-up Shannon Babb. At the "Big E" on Friday evening, Dennis was credited with a fourth place finish in his heat race and later blasted past thirteen cars during the 25-lapper en route to a stirring fourth place performance behind only winner Earl Pearson, Jr., Shane Clanton, and Darrell Lanigan.

When Saturday rolled around at Eldora Speedway, all eyes were fixated on the $49,000 winner's check and the famed globe trophy. Dennis, who had captured the $100,000 payday back in June in the 'Dirt Late Model Dream' at the storied facility, grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his heat race and later started the 100-lap crown jewel spectacular from the inside of the seventh row. The Carpentersville, Illinois superstar then drove to the front of the stellar field and led the 'World 100' on three different occasions on laps 17-18, 24-39, and 53-55. At the checkers, Dennis found himself in the second position to post an impressive runner-up showing behind only fellow Illinois driver Bobby Pierce. Complete results from the extended weekend in the Buckeye State can be accessed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

“We had a nice, balanced car at Eldora all weekend and that place has been pretty good to us this year,” exclaimed Erb, Jr. this week via telephone. “Congratulations to Bobby (Pierce) and his family on the win. We had a great race with (Dale) McDowell side-by-side for I don’t know how many laps, but just came up a little short for the win. I thought I was going to have something for the #32 late in the race, but I got trapped behind some lapped cars and then tried the top for a few laps and just lost too much time. Hopefully, we can keep running strong and contend at some of these big races coming up on our schedule, including at Knoxville this coming weekend!”

Another huge three-day mega-event will greet Dennis Erb Racing on September 15-17 at the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The 13th Annual ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ will take center stage at the Marion County Fairgrounds oval and things kick off later tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) with $7,000 to win preliminary shootouts. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggie will then wrap up on Saturday evening with the D-Main, C-Main, B-Main, and the 100-lap ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals,’ which will once again pay $40,000 to the winner. Dennis comes into this weekend fourth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings.
