    Default Ford Solenoid on SBC

What is the advantage of using a Ford solenoid on a race car with a SBC? I have always gone straight to the starter, but, I see lots of cars with a Ford Solenoid in between Battery/Switch and Starter.

Mainly 2 reasons.... It allows you to crank over the engine, then flip on the ignition switch. This makes the engine start easier if its hot, or you run a lock ed up Distributor with a bunch of timing.

The other reason is you only have power going down the the starter while cranking, Vs having battery power at the starter all the time. This is safer if you have a starter come loose, or get damage during a wreck. Eric

I do It so if for some reason the starter gets hot and shorts out of does not engage as well at the points mentioned above.
My sarcasm is a pre-emptive strike to your stupidity!!
