Billy Moyer Masterful in Knoxville Prelim; Fifth in $40k Knoxville Nationals Finale!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) tackled another crown jewel event over the September 15-17 weekend in the Hawkeye State, as the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa played host to the 13th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again sanctioned the three-day spectacular at the Marion County Fairgrounds oval, which started with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary showdowns. At Knoxville on Thursday night, Billy Moyer dominated by winning his heat race prior to leading all twenty-five circuits in the headliner en route to capturing the $7,000 payday over Brandon Sheppard, Josh Richards, Shane Clanton, and Jimmy Mars! On Friday evening, Billy ran fourth in his heat race, sixth in the B-Main, and twenty-third in the 25-lapper after slowing to bring out the caution flag on lap twelve due to a vibration.

By virtue of accumulating the seventh most points during the unique format, Billy locked himself into the inside of the fourth row for the start of Saturday's 100-lap 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' finale, which once again carried a stout $40,000 winner's share. Despite running out of fuel late in the distance while in the third spot, the Batesville, Arkansas superstar held on to finish fifth in the extra-distance affair behind only victor Mike Marlar, Scott Bloomquist, Bobby Pierce, and Shane Clanton. Complete results from the extended weekend at Knoxville Raceway can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Another marquee event will greet the #21 team this upcoming weekend (September 23-24) at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The annual running of the ‘Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100’ will take place this weekend at “The Mag” and a $20,000 top prize will be on the line. Qualifying and heat races for the Super Late Models will be held on Friday night, while consolation events and the 100-lap headliner are scheduled for Saturday evening. Billy is a three-time winner of the ‘Cotton Pickin’ 100,’ as he picked up the checkered flag in 2004, 2008, and 2009.
