Tri-County Race Track Hosts Southern Nationals Bonus Series for Tarheel 50 on September 30th

BRASSTOWN, NC (September 22, 2016)—The 13th Annual running of the Ray Cook-promoted Tarheel 50 presented by Jacky Jones Automotive Group, Rick’s Rental and Hogsed’s Sports Wear is set for Friday Night September 30th at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned event will pay $4,053 to win / $400 to start event and feature a complete show for the Super Late Models including practice, Time Trials, Last Chance Races and the 53-lap main event.

In addition to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Super Late Models, the Crate Late Models will race for $600-to-win, the Interstate Welding Modified Street division will compete for $400-to-win, the Street Stocks will race for $300-to-win and the Pony division will also be in competition racing for $300-to-win.

Any Tri-County Race Track Limited Late Model driver that’s won a race at the speedway this season is eligible to run with the Super Late Models with a paid entry fee by the race track and any Limited Late Model driver that hasn’t won a race in 2016 at the speedway can run with the Crate Late Model division.

It’s been a ‘Who’s Who’ of dirt Late Model racing drivers that have attended the event or who have won the event since the inception in 2004 at Tri-County Race Track and when the event was held at Cleveland (TN) Speedway. Until 2012, no driver from the Tarheel State of North Carolina had won the event until local hot-shoe David Payne of Murphy captured the $3,500 victory over Indiana’s Don O’Neal. Only Casey Roberts is a three-time winner of this event.

Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. leads the Southern Nationals Bonus Series point standings by 50 just 50 markers over David Payne of Murphy, N.C. Third through Fifth in the series points include Ryan King of Seymour, Tenn., Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, Tenn. and Doug Smith of Harriman, Tenn.

On Friday September 30th, both grandstand and pit gates will open at 4:00 pm with the Driver’s Meeting slated for 6:30 pm and racing to begin at around 7:00 pm. Adult General Admission is $18.00 with children 11-16 admitted for $10.00 while children ten and under are admitted for Free. Adult Pit Passes are $30.00 with children 11-16 admitted for $15.00 while children under ten are admitted for Free.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series by Collins Signs will utilize the following Tire Rule for Tri-County: American Racer 44, 48 & 56 and Hoosier 1300, 1350 & 1600. At each Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2016, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus. American Racer South will provide $200 to the fastest Super Late Model during Friday Night’s event.

In other Tri-County Race Track news, speedway officials have announced plans for the Fourth Annual Monster Mash show on October 14 and 15 featuring Monster Trucks and other activities. For the first time, car racing will be featured with the Monster Trucks. On Friday October 14th, the track will host a Monster Truck special along with Tough Trucks and racing for the Street Stocks and Modified Streets/602 cars. On Saturday October 15th, the Monster Trucks, Tough Trucks, Pony Cars and Limited Late Models/Crate Late Models will all be on hand that night.
