By Mike Leone

September 27, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(East Smethport, PA)...After a weekend off, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series powered by Pace Performance will resume action this Saturday (October 1) at McKean County Raceway in a $1,500 to-win Platinum event part of the track's annual "Fall Classic". Racing begins early at 5 p.m. The RUSH Late Models will also compete on Friday night in a $700 to-win Sweeney Weekly Series event with racing at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the second and final appearance of the season by the Sweeney Touring Series at McKean as back on August 18 Jeremy Wonderling captured his first career Tour event win in the $1,500 to-win Fair race. Prior to that, McKean hosted six Sweeney Weekly Series events this season with Tour regular Eric Wilson winning three of them, while single wins went to Wonderling, Max Blair, and Damian Bidwell. The weekend will also conclude the RUSH weekly points at McKean where Jason Tingue has a 34-point lead over Bidwell as part of the Track Pack Bonus program.

The Sweeney Tour meanwhile is coming off the "Gary Knollinger Memorial" event on September 17 at Sharon Speedway where Will Thomas III captured his first career RUSH Tour victory and became the ninth different winner of the season! The win propelled Thomas from sixth in points into a third place tie. After three wins and a runner-up in four Tour events from June 19-July 15, Bryce Davis has cooled off with only one top five in the last four events; however, he still has an eight-point lead on three-time winner, John Waters. Jason Knowles is tied with Thomas for third. Completing the top 12 points-paying positions are Brian Knowles, Dave Lyon, Wilson, Bruce Hordusky, Jr., Alan Dellinger, Mike Pegher, Jr., Tony White, and Brian Swank.

While Blair hasn't been a regular on the Tour this season, he has won both of his starts this year at Eriez Speedway and Tri-City Raceway Park and his father Rob won in a substitution role back on May 29 at Eriez meaning the #111 is three-for-three in 2016 Tour events. Max, who won the 2015 "Fall Classic", is expected to be on hand and wrap up his third $5,000 Sweeney Weekly Series Championship in four years. Max also won the $3,000 Pace Performance "Summer Chase" that concluded Labor Day.

“We’re excited to be part of the Fall Classic once again,” stated Series Director Vicki Emig. “This has always been a traditional, season ending event for the northern part of our region and it’s great that Chris Zuver is able to continue the tradition once again. There’s always been a strong base of competitors in this region and our events in the past at McKean have always attracted strong, quality fields. And this will be the only event in the north for the weekend and will also close out the Sweeney Weekly Series points.”

The K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash will be run paying a $100 K&N certificate to win, $50 K&N certificate for second with $25 cash for third and fourth place. The K&N Dash will also set the four positions after the feature redraw spots.

Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.

RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that exhibits a performance worthy of such. The winner will receive a free case of either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing Oil of your choice. In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1 clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt.
