ATWOOD, TN – The Cotton Bowl Cup at Clayhill Motorsports begins tomorrow night with Qualifying and Heat Races for nine racing Divisions, and then concludes on Saturday night with the big money up for grabs in the $40,000 purse in B-Main Races and the Main Events. Competitors will be racing for extra cash and extra laps in all nine racing Divisions.

What started out as a regular show with a few dollars added to each Division’s purse, has now grown to the biggest racing event in West Tennessee with competitors entered from seven different states.

The Open-Wheel Modifieds will headline the Cotton Bowl Cup this weekend, as they will race for $3,500-to-win in their main event. Among the top entries expected are Matt Cooper of McKenzie, TN, Bert Richardson of Bradford, TN, 13-year-old Hunt Gossum out of Kentucky, and the Clayhill Motorsports Track Champion Junior Lemming.

The NeSmith-Style Street Stocks will race for $2,500-to-win in their main event. The Southern Nationals Street Stock Champion Michael Blade of Culleoka, TN will lead the entrants for the “NeSmith-Style” Street Stocks with other entries expected from Jimmy Nolen of Huron, TN, Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS, and Joe Hamm of Dover, TN.

The Crate Late Models will also be competing for big money with a $2,000-to-win main event. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN, Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN, Dennis Bush of Cedar Grove, TN, Joe Mike of Mayfield, KY, Bronson Berry of Huntingdon, TN, Ben Garner of Greenfield, TN, and Jimmy Halford of Atwood, TN are among the expected Crate Late Model entrants.

The Cotton Bowl Cup will also pay more money to the rest of the weekly divisions, many of which are ignored at other big races, having to fend for their regular weekly purses. Not so at the Cotton Bowl Cup.

The Hobby Division will race for $2,000-to-win in their main event, and the main event for the E-Mod Division will pay $1,500-to-win. The Clayhill Motorsports Street Stock Division will battle for $1,000-to-win and the Pure Stock Division will now race for $750-to-win in their main event. The Mini Mods and the Hummers will each compete for $500-to-win in their respective main events in the Cotton Bowl Cup.

Even the race fans are big winners at the Cotton Bowl Cup this Friday night and Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports, as the General Admission ticket price each night is only $10. Pit passes each night are $30. On both Friday night and Saturday night, the pit gate opens at 5 p.m. Hot Laps are set for 6 p.m., and racing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on both nights.
